Liberal Democrats choose candidate for Tatton
Local Liberal Democrats have selected David Lomax to fight the Tatton seat for them in the forth-coming General Election. The 54 year old, is a special needs teacher at New Mills School. He is married to Hilary and has 2 step children and 2 grand children.
Commenting after his selection, David Lomax said, “I am delighted to have been selected to fight this seat. Tatton may be classed as the most affluent constituency in the North West but there are some real contrasts in the area. The recession has hit many people hard in Tatton. Try telling the shopkeeper who has been forced to close, the business that has been unable to get extra funding from the bank, the pensioner who has seen savings under attack, those that have been made unemployed at the airport or are now facing uncertainty at AstraZenica, or the farmer who has been forced to sell the pedigree dairy herd that they are so well off.”
“I am delighted that Nick Clegg has put fairness at the heart of the Liberal Democrats manifesto for the General Election. We need to give our young people a fair start in life; promote a fair, green economy with life long training opportunities to meet the rapidly changing needs of the 21st Century; fair taxation nationally and locally; a fair provision health services and care for a growing elderly population. Above all we want a fair, clean political system that engages with and really represents the community.”

The Liberal Democrats exist to build and safeguard a fair, free and open society, in which we seek to balance the fundamental values of liberty, equality and community, and in which no-one shall be enslaved by poverty, ignorance or conformity. We champion the freedom, dignity and well-being of individuals, we acknowledge and respect their right to freedom of conscience and their right to develop their talents to the full. We aim to disperse power, to foster diversity and to nurture creativity. We believe that the role of the state is to enable all citizens to attain these ideals, to contribute fully to their communities and to take part in the decisions which affect their lives.
