Tatton Liberal Democrats
Liberal Democrats - Freedom of the individual underpinned by a safety net for the vulnerable
The outcome of the recent General Election produced many surprises.
Locally, in Tatton, our hard working Liberal Democrat Candidate David Lomax leapfrogged over Labour to finish runner-up to George Osborne, David polled 10,200 votes, and his campaign generated many new active supporters for the Lib Dem cause.
..
The overall national result did not give any party enough MPs to have a majority in Parliament. The rapid agreement to form a coalition between Conservatives and Liberal Democrats was, to many of us, a bold innovation. Only time will show how this works in dealing with our national debt and many other problems.
However, from the feedback I have had so far, most people have accepted the arrangement as the only practical way forward and wish the coalition well in its mission to tackle our horrendous national deficit as well to introduce a radical reform of our political system.
Next year, there will be new elections for Cheshire East Council, and we are looking out for people who share our views and would like to consider serving their community by becoming a councillor. If you are interested in the possibility of becoming an elected Liberal Democrat representative, please get in touch with me by phone or email (details below)

Here you will find news, views and useful information from the Liberal Democrat team across the Tatton Constituency.
The Liberal Democrats exist to build and safeguard a fair, free and open society, in which we seek to balance the fundamental values of liberty, equality and community, and in which no-one shall be enslaved by poverty, ignorance or conformity. We champion the freedom, dignity and well-being of individuals, we acknowledge and respect their right to freedom of conscience and their right to develop their talents to the full. We aim to disperse power, to foster diversity and to nurture creativity. We believe that the role of the state is to enable all citizens to attain these ideals, to contribute fully to their communities and to take part in the decisions which affect their lives.
Our intention is that this website will be a useful resource for local people to find out more about the local Liberal Democrats and the campaigns we are running.
If you would like to help promote local Liberal Democrats and assist with our campaigns then please visit the “Keeping in touch” page and let us know how you would like to help.
