Liberal Democrats - Freedom of the individual underpinned by a safety net for the vulnerable
Save Our Sorting Office! On Monday 3rd December, Craig joined local Post Office Workers and village campaigners to protest at Royal Mail's plans to close Alderley Edge Sorting Office at the end of 2007. Speaking at the public demonstration, Craig commented ‘it is shameful that in Royal Mail's cost-cutting calculations, they have not taken into account the social or environmental costs that will be incurred, should members of staff and local residents have to travel to Wilmslow to collect their mail and parcels.' Craig also voiced fears that the listed status of the existing building will not be respected and that Alderley will be blighted by another out of character development. | ![]() |
More Local Roads Success Following on from the partial resurfacing of George Street (outside the Doctor's Surgery), your local Liberal Democrat Team have also secured some much needed improvements in West Street. Opposite, local campaigner Craig Browne inspects the work carried out. If there are any other roads nearby that need action the Liberal Democrat Team want to hear from you! |

Improved Footpaths Too! Residents of The Circuit & Fairbourne Close will have noticed that the overgrown hedgerow at the junction with Heyes Lane has finally been tidied up following a series of letters, emails and phone calls from their Lib Dem team. One of the problems with this plot of land is that it still belongs to United Utilities and therefore lies outside the Council's responsibility. Your Lib Dem Team have also been working hard to get action on the footpath from Davy Lane to Alderley Edge Railway Station. Adjacent vegetation had become hopelessly overgrown, but following a few emails and telephone calls with Network Rail, this has now been cut back, making the footpath more accessible to all. | ![]() |
Residents Survey - The Results
In 2006 we conducted a survey of over 1,000 households within the village. Following on from this, the Liberal Democrat Team will be campaigning hard on your behalf, to ensure that your views are properly represented and the issues that matter to you are dealt with.
