Knutsford Local News

David Lomax

We are delighted to welcome David Lomax as our candidate in the General Election on May 6.  Our Tatton constituency is fertile Lib Dem territory and we are working hard to support David in bringing our message of fairness to more and more of our neighbours.
If you’d like to display a poster in support of David or help in any other way, before the election or on the day, please ring him on 07563 76 05 03 or email dlomax4parliament@btinternet.com.

Our Town Councillors

Francis Aldhouse

Our town councillors, Francis Aldhouse and Barbara Austin, are working hard to represent the views and concerns of people in Knutsford, and encourage a fairer deal for all members of the  community in local decision-making.

Town Plan

Lib Dems believe that small is not only beautiful but often more efficient.  Barbara and Francis strongly support the call made in the recently-published Town Plan  for more powers to be devolved to the Town Council.

We should be given the chance to run some of our own local services, such as the Tabley Cemetary – which the Council actually owns – from Knutsford’s traditional council offices.

Health Centre

After much debate and even more confusion the controversial proposal to move all our local medical services to a site on the fringes of the town has been dropped.  Everyone would like to see improved medical facilities in Knutsford, to save travelling to Macclesfield for routine procedures, but most of us also value a local surgery that’s easy to get to.

Knutsford Lib Dems call on the Primary Care Trust to support our GP surgeries while using the best new technology to provide an improved service at Cranford Lodge Hospital – a central site that’s already in existence and convenient for both public and private transport.

The state of our roads

We’re constantly made aware of problems with parking, speeding traffic in residential areas and pot holes in our roads.  Knutsford Lib Dems want Cheshire East Council to start to take these problems seriously, beginning with:

  1. A 20 mph zone in Ashworth Park
  2. One hour parking in the town centre shopping streets
  3. Fair treatment on car parking charges, with the free parking that Cheshire East has already given to Holmes Chapel and Middlewich
  4. An effective plan to repair our side roads
