Revaluation of YOUR House Begins Soon

WITH the coming General Election in mind, the majority of local councils have this year have gone for low rises in Council Tax. .But things could soon be very different, with council tax going sky-high warns Barbara Austin.

Barbara's fears are based on the fact that the authorities are just beginning a REVALUATION of all homes in England to recalculate their value for council tax purposes.

The last revaluation took place 14 years ago in 1991 and since then PROPERTY PRICES HAVE SOARED THROUGH THE ROOF. MOST PEOPLE CAN EXPECT THEIR HOMES TO JUMP SEVERAL BANDS UP THE COUNCIL TAX BAND LADDER when the revaluation has finished. This in turn could lead to ASTONISHING increases in their council tax !

The nasty consequences of revaluation are just one of the reasons why BARBARA AUSTIN and the Liberal Democrats want to scrap the Council Tax and replace it with a local income tax based on the ability of a person to pay and NOT on the value of their house.

Replacing council tax with a fair local tax would mean big tax cuts for ordinary families as over 70% of households will be better off or unaffected.

MOST PENSIONERS WOULD HAVE VERY BIG CUTS IN THEIR TAX AND MANY WOULD PAY NOTHING AT ALL.
