Lib Dems Say NO to Fracking in Tatton

 key_post_image.jpgFRACKING licences have been awarded to energy giants, giving them the opportunity to frack on any land in Knutsford, including Tatton Park.

The Oil & Gas Authority (OGA) – the UK’s oil and gas regulator – announced that 159 onshore blocks under the 14th Onshore Oil and Gas Licensing Round are being formally offered to some energy firms. These blocks are being incorporated into 93 onshore licences and one of the firms, INEOS, has been awarded three licences in Cheshire, with one of them covering Knutsford, going from Altrincham down to Goostrey.  The other two license areas cover Northwich and surrounding villages, and Winsford.


The English Liberal Democrats voted at Conference this year to ban fracking and Tatton Lib Dems are deeply opposed to fracking in the Tatton constituency.

Petition : Cheshire East - Pay The Living Wage


This election Gareth Wilson will be campaigning for everyone in Cheshire East to be paid the Living Wage. Currently set at £7.85 in Cheshire, the Living Wage is calculated as the bare minimum someone should be paid to be able to afford life’s necessities like food, housing and heating. 5 million people in Britain such as care workers and support staff for vital services are paid less than the Living Wage, the majority of them women.

Lib Dems Keep The UK On Track

Victory! - Free Parking For 4 HOURS At Knutsford Hospital


Due to a petition of over 1000 signatures, patient and visitor parking will be free for up to four hours at Knutsford Community Hospital and the Congleton War Memorial Hospital.  Plans to charge patients for even a short 20 minute stay have been shelved after the petition was presented by Gareth Wilson at a recent East Cheshire NHS Trust board meeting.

Residents Persuade Council To Reject 375 Homes in Mobberley

Last Wednesday, LPC Living’s scheme to build 375 new homes on Ilford Way was presented to Cheshire East Council’s strategic planning board, with a recommendation for approval from Cheshire East's planning department.

After the matter was discussed for nearly 3 hours, the application was rejected on the grounds that aircraft noise on the site would have an adverse affect on potential residents, there were not enough affordable homes in the proposal and its sheer scale would compromise the character of the village and its local amenities.  The public gallery was packed full with residents and business owners with extra chairs needed to accommodate everyone.

Gareth Wilson Selected As Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate For Tatton

Gareth Wilson is the Liberal Democrats' choice to take on George Osborne at the General Election in May.

Gareth is member of the local party, and will be taking up the chair in January. With a background in economics and Design Director of a software company, he is already active in local politics and led the recently successful campaign against housing development in Mobberley.

He was brought up in the area and currently lives in Mobberley with his wife and two young children, so he has a clear sense of the issues which affect the people of Tatton.
