Why I am standing for Knutsford Bexton
Ann Barlow is the Liberal Democrat for the Borough Council in Knutsford Bexton. She explains why she is standing:
“Liberal Democrats believe in local democracy. That’s where our strength lies, with a large and growing number of LibDem councils and concillors elected and re-elected every year. Other LibDem councils have shown that, even in these days of increasing control from Whitehall, a local council can be more than just a talking shop: by listening to residents, by using imagination, and by hard work it can really improve the quality of life in a town.”
“I believe that as a Borough Councillor I can help to develop Knutsford’s amenities so that the local community can access the facilities they need on their doorstep. With local government reoganisation on the way it’s important that the interests of the town as a thriving centre are well represented. I feel that it’s particularly important that the local community are given a voice in issues such as public transport, pedestrianisation and cycle lanes and we need to make sure that Knutsford’s concerns are clearly made at the Borough Council.”
“These are the reasons why I’m standing for the Borough Council on May 3rd”
Ann has lived in the borough for over 20 years. She works in adult education at Manchester University, is a Church of England lay reader and has two grown up children both of whom went to Knutsford High School.
